Your Web Metrics: Super Lame or Super Awesome?

Avinash Kaushik writes this absolutely superbly articulate, comprehensive piece: Your Web Metrics: Super Lame or Super Awesome? And you can read it here. Who cares if you have 73,500 Facebook Fans if they don't engage. What's the point? There is a point to advertising, there's a reason you want a marketing plan. Don't get sidetracked by large numbers - what matters is the conversion rate. How many Sales did you get as a result of that ad campaign? Don't know? Ah, for shame. What will we do with you, throw some money at you to see if you roll over?

You won't, you say, roll over because someone spent some money to get your attention. Well why then would you think they're going to topple over at your lovely ad? Advertising works. Read about it. It works, but in order for it to be effective you have to do it with purpose.

Why are you running all those high end houses? For the sellers? They're going elsewhere if you don't show them the money you're spending to advertise their house.

Lovely.

1. Why do you advertise?

2. What are your expectations?

3. What sort of system do you have in place to see if you're achieving your goal or not?

4. Is it working?
